Marukiyoya Vintage Japanese Yukata Jacket Cotton Kimono w obis + kinchaku bag
Yukatas are like kimonos but cotton and more light weight. This was purchased by a Japanese family in 1967 and given as a gift to be worn at a Bon Dance in Kobe, Japan. That makes it at least 56 years old!
The red obi should go around the middle, and then the skinnier colored one makes a bow in the back. I forget what the white obi is for! There are two blemishes on the yukata which are pictured! Measurements are pictured as well!
As with all kimono, the left side of the yukata is wrapped over the right side, and secured with either a stiff, one-layer obi, or a softer, also one-layer obi.
A yukata (浴衣, lit. ''bathrobe'') is an unlined cotton summer kimono,[1] worn in casual settings such as summer festivals and to nearby bathhouses. Originally worn as bathrobes, their modern use is much broader, and are a common sight in Japan during summer. Yukata are worn by men and women.
