Vintage Tiara by Indiana Glass Mother Goose Plates (4) and Mugs (4)
Tiara was created in 1970 and marketed by Tiara Exclusives of Dunkirk, Indiana through home parties (think Tupperware) through 1998. Indiana Glass made a rather large volume of the glassware sold by Tiara, although both Fenton Art Glass and L.E. Smith also contributed. Most Tiara was not marked by anything other than their paper labels. However, some Indiana Glass was marked with "Tiara" in the mold. One example of this would be the Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme Child''s Bowl, which bears the signature "Tiara by R.S."
Officially created in 1907, The Indiana Glass Company, although purchased and merged throughout the years, kept its name, its reputation, and held strong until 2002, when the Dunkirk, Indiana factory closed its doors, marking the end of what most considered to be the true (the original factory) Indiana Glass Company. Indiana Glass continued production in Oklahoma until 2008, when the company would close its doors for good.
